Hollowbeck Joinery makes fitted furniture, kitchens and staircases by hand in a converted barn on the edge of the moor. We take on a handful of projects a year and see each one through from the first survey to the last coat of oil.

How it started
The workshop began in 2009 in a rented barn with one bench, a second-hand planer and a lot of optimism. The first jobs were repairs: a rotten sash here, a sagging door there. Word got round that the work was careful and the quotes were honest, and the kitchens and staircases followed. We bought the barn in 2016 and have been slowly filling it with machinery ever since.
How we work
Every job starts with a site visit and a proper measure, because drawings and houses rarely agree. We build as much as we can in the workshop, where the timber is stable and the dust stays with us, and fit on site in as few days as possible. We use FSC-certified hardwoods, water-based finishes where they will last, and traditional joints where a screw would be quicker but worse.
